This note is a reminder about:
1) Registering for the Spring Retreat
2) The Scholarship request deadline
3) Worship leaders still needed
4) Financial topics of interest wanted
Below is the initial email sent out in early February with dates, details, and registration links for the retreat. Come enjoy this gathering of colleagues at a beautiful time of year on the mountaintop!
If you are interested in being considered for a scholarship, please send your request to chapter treasurer Terry Davis by Mon., March 27 at email@example.com. And, if you are able to contribute to SEUUMA's scholarship fund, please send checks by Mon., March 27 (payable to SEUUMA) to: Rev. Terry Davis, Northwest Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 1025 Mt. Vernon Hwy, NW, Sandy Springs, GA 30327. Scholarship awards will be made after this date based on funds available.
Please volunteer to lead a brief 30-minute worship service in the morning or evening. Simple works well!
Our presenters, Jan Gartner and Richard Nugent, plan to include one session for you to ask any questions of interest around Financial matters, not just Employment. What would you like to receive information on or have a dialogue about? Endowment? Best Practices? ??? Please let me know if you have specific topics you’d like them to be prepared for.
Thanks in advance for your attendance and volunteering!
See you soon,
UU Fellowship of Athens, GA
Greetings, SEUUMA Colleagues!
April 24-27, 2017 – Mark your calendars for the SEUUMA Spring Retreat at The Mountain, in Highlands, NC. Because Easter falls fairly late, our retreat is later than in some years. But happily that should provide extra springtime beauty and warmth at The Mountain!
The program focuses on “Care for Self & Staff”. Our presenters are the Reverends Jan Gartner & Richard Nugent from our UUA Office of Church Staff Finances. The program focuses on our financial, human, and inner resources. In addition to this program there will be time for worship, relaxing, and reconnecting with colleagues.
LREDA and UUMN colleagues are welcome to attend, but please RSVP to me, Alison Eskildsen (firstname.lastname@example.org) as soon as possible. The presenters wish to know in advance if their audience is a mixed group of professionals or just ministers—and they advise that it would be best if there were more than just one or two non-ministers for your small group conversations.
To register, go directly to The Mountain’s website, http://themountainrlc.org/. Unfortunately, their website does not indicate our SEUUMA retreat under the Retreat listing. Don’t let that stop you! Click on Register instead. Log in to your account (and if you haven’t created a Mountain account before, you must do that first). When you add a program to your account, click Other Retreats. The SEUUMA Retreat is listed as an option, organized by date. Click on it and continue working your way through the screens with personal information about housing, roommate, or food needs. Basic registration remains $255.
Worship Leaders and Musicians Wanted
Please consider leading one of several worship opportunities during the retreat. They are 30 minutes long, one each morning and evening. Please contact me directly if you would like to volunteer. We encourage you to share your gifts with colleagues, especially if it’s been a while since you last led worship. If you have musical gifts to share, please let me know that, too.
Scholarships: Giving and Receiving
At our fall SEUUMA retreat, you generously voted to create a scholarship fund to increase the likelihood that there would be no financial barrier for colleagues who wished to attend our retreats. Please let us know if you are interested in receiving a scholarship to the Spring Retreat by contacting our chapter treasurer, Rev. Terry Davis (email@example.com) by March 15, 2017.
If you can support our new fund with a contribution, please make your check payable to SEUUMA and mail to Rev. Terry (Northwest Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 1025 Mt. Vernon Hwy, NW, Sandy Springs, GA 30327).
A complete schedule of the Retreat program and activities will be sent closer to the retreat date to those who register. It will generally follow previous retreats. Please plan to arrive before dinner (at 6 pm) on Monday evening. The Retreat typically ends after worship on Thursday morning, but you may continue to enjoy The Mountain past that time.
Come enjoy mountain air, good food, and make new friends. Please make every effort to join us!
Rev. Alison W. Eskildsen
SEUUMA Vice President for Programs
